Abdikarim has over 20 years of experience in international business and has been leading the Chamber since 2018. His vision is to establish Somaliland as a business hub in the Horn of Africa.

Our History

Key milestones in our journey of supporting Somaliland's business community

1993

Chamber Establishment

The Somaliland Chamber of Commerce was established shortly after Somaliland declared independence to support the growth of the private sector.

2000

International Recognition

The Chamber gained membership in the Pan-African Chamber of Commerce, establishing important continental connections.

2005

First Business Conference

Organized the first Somaliland International Business Conference, attracting investors from across East Africa and the Middle East.

2010

Trade Office Expansion

Opened representative trade offices in Djibouti, Ethiopia, and the UAE to facilitate cross-border business relationships.

2015

Digital Transformation

Launched online services platform to better serve members and provide resources for businesses across Somaliland.

2020

COVID-19 Business Support

Established emergency support programs to help businesses navigate the challenges of the global pandemic.
